Terms of Use

1. Your Memory Box

Memory Box helps you collect photographs, identify familiar faces, record the stories behind them and invite others to contribute. Some features use artificial intelligence to organise photographs, suggest questions and prepare narrated stories.

Use your account for lawful personal purposes. Keep your sign-in details private, give us accurate account information and let us know if you think somebody else has gained access. Do not use another person’s account without permission.

2. Your photographs and stories

You keep the rights you already have in the photographs, recordings, words and other material you add. Uploading them does not transfer ownership to Memory Box.

You give Memory Box permission to store, copy, process and display that material as needed to provide the features you use. This includes creating thumbnails, finding familiar faces, preparing transcripts and narration, and making material available to the people you share it with. Our service providers may process material for those purposes.

This permission lasts while the material is needed to provide those features, subject to the deletion and retention information in our Privacy Policy. It does not give us permission to use your family photographs or stories in advertising without your separate agreement.

3. Respect the people in your memories

Only add or share material you own or have permission to use. Owning a printed photograph does not necessarily mean you own its copyright.

Respect the privacy and wishes of people whose faces, voices or personal information appear. Obtain any permission needed before recording somebody, sharing their story or uploading material about them. Take particular care with children and sensitive details about living people.

Do not upload illegal, abusive or exploitative material, impersonate someone, infringe another person’s rights, send unwanted invitations or try to bypass the service’s security. Contact us if a photograph or story raises a concern.

4. Sharing and contributions

Check what is included before sharing an album or a photograph and story. A share link can be forwarded, and someone with an album or story link may be able to open the shared material without an account. A messaging service may display a preview.

An album created from a person or folder can include photographs added to that album later. Review the sharing controls and the people you send its link to when adding more photographs.

People you invite may contribute stories and, where the feature allows it, keep copies in their own Memory Box. Revoking an album or story link, or deleting your original, does not recall screenshots, downloads or independent copies that somebody already kept.

A contribution belongs to its contributor to the extent they hold the rights in it. Contribute only material you are comfortable making available to the recipients shown in that sharing flow.

5. AI, face suggestions and narration

Face matches, interview questions, transcripts and edited stories can be wrong. Check names, relationships, dates and wording before saving or sharing, and correct mistakes using the available controls.

A generated narrator is an artificial voice reading a prepared script. It should not be presented as an authentic recording of a person saying words they never said. Keep uncertainty in family recollections clear.

The Privacy Policy describes the information these features use. Agreeing to these terms is not, by itself, consent to every use of somebody’s personal or biometric information.

6. Looking after your memories

Keep your own copies of irreplaceable photographs and recordings. Memory Box is still being developed, and features may change or be temporarily unavailable. We will use reasonable care and skill in providing the service.

These terms do not introduce a subscription or authorise a payment. Any future paid feature will need clear pricing and applicable payment, cancellation and refund terms before you choose it.

7. Leaving and removing an account

You can log out without deleting your saved Memory Box. To remove your account, open You, choose the gear icon, then Account Management. Read the warning and type delete to confirm.

Account removal permanently removes your account and the Memory Boxes you own, including their photographs and stories. Save anything you want to keep first. Independent copies already kept by others may remain. The Privacy Policy explains limits involving backups, service providers and legally required records.

8. Problems, restrictions and your rights

We may restrict content or access where reasonably necessary to address misuse, a security problem or a legal obligation. Where appropriate, we will explain what happened and provide a way to contact us; urgent action may be needed first.

Nothing in these terms takes away consumer rights or excludes responsibility where the law does not allow it. These terms do not set an arbitrary limit on compensation or require you to give up access to the courts.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service develops or legal requirements change. The date on this page identifies the version. Material changes should be brought to your attention before they take effect, with an opportunity to stop using the service.
